Description
Out of Print...This book provides a comprehensive introduction to the design of reinforced concrete elements. Its intention is to give students an understanding of the basic principles of design together with some indication of the way in which these are embodied in the relevant Codes of Practice. The treatment of the subject from an elementary level, however, does not mean that more advanced techniques are neglected. In addition to introducing classical methods of design, the book also introduces such techniques as prestressed concrete and the yield-line analysis of slabs. Another feature of the book is that it does not concentrate exclusively on the limit state approach, but also covers the modular ratio or elastic method of design. The chapter on the design of elementary foundations illustrates how the techniques previously developed for the desigi of the above ground structure may be applied to the design of foundations. The book will be of value to all students of Civil/Structural Engineering up to first degree level.
