Out Of Print... Professor V. Pokshishevsky, Doctor of Geographical Sciences, has centred his scientific acivity on studying theoretical problems of economic geography, particularly, demography and ethnogeography. Since the 1930s he has conducted geographic research and took part in geographcal expeditions to many areas of the USSR. He has written several major works including 'Distribution of Industry' (1932), 'Peopling of Siberia' (1951) and a number of monographs on individual regions of the USSR. Professor V. Pokshishevsky is a member of the USSR Geographic Society. He has participated in geographic congresses in the Soviet Union and many international geographic and demographic congresses and conferences. Some of his books have been published abroad, among then 'Journey Across the Map of the USSR', written in collaboration with geographer N. Mikhailov, and several books about the northern regions of the USSR and the Volga area. He is also one of the authors of the major work 'Soviet Geography'. 'Results and Tasks' which was published in the USSR in 1960 and later translated abroad.
