This book contains his Intelligence Testing and the Comprehensive School, published in 1953, followed by articles and lectures on educational organization and standards, and on educational psychology, from that date to 1970. Togther, they state a clear and forceful case for progressive educational policies. The emphasis in these writings is against the divided system of education which contains opportunities for the children-and against the "intelligence testing,which was used to bolster it. The 'eleven-plus' has now gone and Comprehensive education is widely established-but the same old problem of standards and opportunities remain. In an Introduction and Epiloque to this collection Professor Simon surveys the main issues over which battle has been and is still being joined, and discusses the prospects of the future.
