Description

Out Of Print... Introduction... This 1975-76 issue is the third edition of the 100 Centre Guide first published in 1972. It presents the findings of a major and continuing survey of developments in commercial property and related factors in Great Britain. The 100 centres selected range from Plymouth to Inverness and include all centres of national and regional importance. In effect five main groupings of the towns and cities can be recognised. These groupings are: - the key regional centres - important market and commercial centres - new towns - other towns with expansion agreements - centres within the major conurbations All of the centres which can be classified in the first heading have been surveyed. These cities differentiate themselves by attracting workers and shoppers from considerable distances and frequently from other important centres. In terms of shopping attraction an analysis of these centres is included in the GEP review of the retail trade. This review identifies 13 centres outside central London which fulfill the role of key regional shopping centres. They are:- Aberdeen, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Norwich, Nottingham and Sheffield.
