Railway Through Talerddig

The authors research into the formative years of the Newtown & Machynlleth Railway has revealed not only the manner in which the local community fought to achieve its railway, but also the role played by maritime traders in the tidal reaches of the river Dyfi, whose valuable contribution to the rapid establishment of the new mode of transport led, ironically, to their own decline and eventual demise. This new study reveals many of the intriguing aspects and details of the railway's history which have been overlooked by previous authors.
