This is a textbook on the fundamentals of electrical and radio engineering for physicists and science students, based on the lectures given by the authors in the physics faculty of the Leningrad State University. The book aims at presenting the basic knowledge in this field needed by scientists in order to choose and utilize modern laboratory and experimental equipment more effectively. The presentation links the material closely with the study of physics in order to enable the reader to employ the processes studied more consciously in independent research work. Thus, the general properties of circuits, amplifiers, etc., are treated in comparative detail, while less attention is given to the actual construction of electrical machines, and the sections on antennae, transmitters, and the propagation of radio waves.
