Description

Out Of Print... Error analysis for small craft sailors Over a period of years of sailing in a variety of small boats, the author has kept notes on his own errors and analysed exactly why they have occurred, the different choices of action open to him in those particular circumstances, and the consequences of each choice had he taken it. Most of the handling situations described took place in craft from about 12 to 25 feet overall, some with drop plates, some with fixed keels, and rigged with main, jib and spinnaker. Humorously and clearly the author describes how NOT to do it, and not only offers effective solutions to snarl-up situations but also explains an effective technique, that of error analysis for better sailing. Major Stewart was for some years a professional aviator, becoming known as a pilot, writer, broadcaster and Farnborough commentator. He is holder of the Military Cross and the Air Force Cross and is a Companion of the Royal Aeronautical Society. It was when acting as a government test pilot an experimental establishment near Orfordness that sailing small boats became his prime leisure interest. Since then he has applied to the handling of small craft methods similar to those he used when flying.
