Out Of Print... The rise of The Lemonheads has been as dramatic as their appeal is difficult to describe. The one constant factor, vocalist/songwriter, Evan Dando has proved almost impossible to pin down, having made headlines for taking the stage at the 1993 Reading Festival in a dress, openly confessing a potentially lethal drug habit and retreating to Australia to write songs after the band appeared to have self-destructed just as fame and fortune seemed within their grasp. But all this is to overlook his musical abilities, which brought the Boston band UK Top Five status with Come On Feel The Lemonheads'. This book, the first major biography on the band, fills in all the gaps even long-time fans may have difficulty bridging, detailing the three albums worth of independently released music that preceded their signing to Atlantic and chart breakthrough with a raucous cover of Paul Simons 'Mrs Robinson'. It also ties in characters as disparate as Ben Daily, Dandos fellow founder-member, Gram Parsons, his fated role model, and Juliana Hatfield, the fellow Boston rock star with whom he has enjoyed a typically enigmatic relationship. Against all odds, the Lemonheads and Evan Dando have survived innumerable pressures, many of them self- inflicted, to charm the world with their idiosyncratic guitar rock.
