This second edition represents a radical revision of the first so that it now constitutes a full GCE A-level Computer Studies Textbook. At the same time it remains wholly appropriate to the British Computer Society's Part 1 exam, the Institute of Data Processing's diploma paper on computer technology, and City & Guilds 747 course, and substantially appropriate to relevant TEC units.

The revision has led to restructed and expanded chapters on data types, instruction codes, data structure, and operating systems, and new chapters on computers at work and computer history.

Essentially the book provides a full introduction to computing and computer technology as a firm foundation upon which to build in subsequent study of any branch of the subject.
