Out Of Print... This book encapsulates the lives of ten Brecknock notabilities, ranging from Gerald the Welshman in the twelfth century to Adelina Patti in the twentieth. They were not made of ordinary clay for each and every one, in his or her own way, possessed exceptional talents which distinguished them from ordinary mortals. Swordsmen and 'literati', clerics and thespians, rub shoulders and walk tall. Not all were indigenous to the area, but they all possessed one trait in common, and that was an enormous appetite for living. From this craving was to spring their immortality, for their memories were to be perpetuated in stone and in marble, in prose and in verse.
